Harvey Dance is a hip-hop dance company set-up in February 2004. It is made up
of young semi-professionals whose passion it is to dance. Harvey Dance
specialises in tight, unique, energetic, creative hip-hop dance and physical
theatre.

The company was initiated because it was realised that although there were great
hip-hop dance companies in the industry; there were hardly any companies that
fused the flavour with theatre in a way that highlighted the dramatic content.
In their performances, the theatre is just as important as the dance, as a tool
for engagement.
By creating routines using elements of drama, the group is able to raise issues,
be humorous, entertain, empower, evoke emotions and engage an audience, in a way
that they can relate to.
The group had much success with their sold-out musical ‘Girls Can’t Hip-Hop’ –
directed by the highly acclaimed Amani Napthali (Ragamuffin). This was an
inner-city version of Cinderella. The Arts Council funded project was a huge
success and attracted much press attention from the likes of: The BBC, New
Nation Newspaper, Street Cred Magazine and the Metro Newspaper.

Harvey Dance has performed in front of many age groups, social backgrounds,
people of different cultures and organisations (private and commercial). The
response has almost (99% of the time), always been positive because the
performances are designed for enjoyment for the majority. Therefore it goes
without saying that profanities and/or threatening lyrics are never used in
performances.
The company is available for hire for conferences, weddings, showcases,
concerts, videos and more. For more information and quotes please
